The core idea

The only real trick is the names

There is no timing, no secret button, and no daily bonus. Because the score comes from Pythagorean name numerology, the entire skill of “playing well” is choosing what to type — and knowing when to stop taking the number seriously.

  • 01

Change one letter to change the score

The percentage is a fixed function of the exact text of the two names — each spelling maps to a life-path number, and the pair is scored from that. Re-running the same pair does nothing, but swapping "Michael" for "Mike", adding a middle name, or fixing a typo can shift the numerology and produce a different number. If you are chasing a higher result, this is the only lever you have.

  • 02

Pick one naming style and stick to it

Before a group session, agree on first names only, or full names, or nicknames. Otherwise one person tests "Sam" while the next tests "Samantha Rose Whitfield" and the comparison is meaningless. Consistency is what makes a leaderboard feel fair.

  • 03

Use it on people who are not in the room

Celebrity couples, fictional characters, historical figures, two members of the same band — these are the safest and funniest inputs. Nobody has feelings riding on whether two cartoon characters score 12%.

  • 04

Run a bracket at a party

Test several pairs, note the percentages, and treat the highest as the "winner" of the round. It turns a ten-second toy into a game everyone can play together without anyone being put on the spot.

  • 05

Let a surprising score start a conversation

The value of a weird result is the "wait, really?" that follows it. Read the verdict out loud, laugh, and move on. The moment you start defending or resenting a number, the game has stopped working.

  • 06

Do not use it to decide anything

Whether to text a crush, whether a relationship is working, whether to feel good or bad about someone — none of that is a question a name calculator can answer. Take the score for the laugh and make the real call yourself.

Name ideas

What to type in the two boxes

Every variation is a fresh result. See the how-to-play guide for the score bands.

  • Full name vs. first name

Test "Alex Taylor & Jordan Lee", then "Alex & Jordan". Two different strings, two different scores — and an easy way to get a second result from the same couple.

  • Nicknames and initials

Nicknames ("Bea", "Tommo"), initials ("A.J."), and middle names all count as distinct entries. They are the fastest way to explore the full 0–100 range for one pairing.

  • Fictional and famous pairs

Book couples, film leads, rival athletes, two colours, two foods — the game does not care whether the names belong to real people, so anything goes.
