Our craft
One rule. Endless nonsense.
Type two names, watch the meter climb, read the verdict. That loop is the entire thing we design around.

What we make
lovetester.lol is the site behind our version of the Love Tester game. The product is a single-screen browser toy: type two names, tap the heart, and a love meter fills to a percentage from 0% to 100% with a short verdict.
The score is derived only from the two names. Each is trimmed and lower-cased, converted to a Pythagorean life-path number (1–9), and those digits are compared on a fixed compatibility chart. Nothing about you, your device, or your actual relationship is an input, and there is no random number involved — which is why a pair always scores the same.
We are not a game portal and there is no app to install. The game is the website. That keeps it fast, keeps it working on any phone, and keeps it honest. Recent pairs, your best score, and your test count are stored in local browser storage on your device. Rules and behaviour described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.
Our story
The Love Tester was never invented by anyone in particular. It is a piece of schoolyard folklore that keeps finding new formats — and this is just the latest one.
The name-based love test is folklore. Generations of kids wrote two names on a page, struck out the letters they shared, counted what was left, and read a percentage off the tally. Magazines ran the same trick as a quiz. It was never accurate and everyone knew it — that was the joke.
Coin-op "love tester" machines put a number on a gauge for a quarter. When the web arrived, the idea moved into thousands of tiny "love calculator" pages and Flash toys: two boxes, a button, a heart that fills. lovetester.lol is that same toy, rebuilt without the clutter that came to surround it.
We kept exactly one mechanic — two names in, one percentage out — and spent the effort on the parts that were usually neglected: a readable meter, a real animation, sound you can mute, a score that is stable, and history that stays on your device. No iframe, no pop-ups, no fake "analyzing" delay pretending to be science.
What we stand for
Open the page and the two fields are waiting. No account, no download, no cookie maze, no "watch an ad to reveal your score". Type two names and tap the heart.
The same pair always returns the same percentage. That is a deliberate choice: a score you can re-check or send to a friend is more fun than a slot machine that forgets you.
Every page says the same thing — this is a novelty calculation on two text strings. We would rather be clear that it means nothing than dress it up as insight.
Recent pairs and your best score live in your browser. We do not have a copy, we do not need your email, and there is no profile to delete.
Who it is for
lovetester.lol is a family-friendly, single-player novelty game with no chat and no store. It is a bad fit if you want a real compatibility assessment. It is a good fit for a laugh with friends.
This is a game you open, run three times, laugh, and close. It is built for a group at a party or a lull between tasks — not a campaign.
The fun is in the reveal and the reaction to it. If you enjoy reading a cheesy verdict out loud, this is for you. If you want a real compatibility tool, this very much is not.
No age gate for the game itself, no login, no linked accounts. Your history stays on the device you used, which also means we cannot move it for you.
Why this site
“Love tester” is a crowded corner of the web. This site exists to ship one fast, honest version of it with the details done properly.
Many "love tester" sites are a wrapper around someone else’s embedded game, surrounded by ads. Here the meter, the sound, and the logic are the site — it loads fast and works offline-ish once opened.
Plenty of clones re-roll a random number every time, so a pair can score 90% then 14% seconds later. Ours is computed from the names, so it holds still — you can screenshot it and a friend gets the same result.
No dark patterns around the mute button, no "your true match revealed" upsell. The how-to-play, tips, and FAQ describe this exact build, not a generic write-up of "love tests" in the abstract.
How we build
lovetester.lol runs entirely on the web. Fast loads, keyboard and touch controls, synthesised sound you can mute with the M key, and history that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps — the resulting score as a number, never the names you type — and never to gate the game. The engine on the home page is the one our rules pages describe, so search results and the live game stay in sync.
Desktop and mobile share the same single-column layout. Type, press Enter or tap the heart, read the meter.
Your recent pairs, best score, and test count are stored locally. Clearing site data resets them; nothing syncs.
We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never a sales pitch.
